Make a Cutting Board 2023

Friday, September 1st and Saturday, September 2nd

Instructor:  Dawne Olson

Class size: 10 people

Tuition: $75

Friday (one hour) 4-7 pm

Saturday (2-3 hours) 9 a.m. to noon

* lunch prepared in a Dutch oven during class will be served Saturday after class

This workshop will begin on Friday evening with everyone gluing and clamping their wood strips together.  (Takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour).  The shop will be open from 4 - 7 pm so that people can come at any time during that time frame.

On Saturday morning you will return to trim the ends of your cutting board, plane, sand and oil your completed board.  Saturday's session will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
Research has shown that wood cutting boards are more sanitary than plastic ones!  In addition, a hardwood cutting board is beautiful in any kitchen and the natural material just *feels* better for food preparation in a day and age when there are so many synthetic tools in the kitchen space.

Hardwoods typically used for this project are Maple, Black Walnut, mahogany, Padauk, Purple Heart or similar exotic species.  Finished size is approximately 10x14.  They are gorgeous!
